Co-op Compromise gives White House a Health Option

    WASHINGTON (AP) - Congress begins work this week on President
Barack Obama’s proposed health overhaul as the White House signals
a willingness to compromise.
    With Republicans fighting the idea of a government-run health
insurance plan, members of President Barack Obama’s team say they
are open to a cooperative program using taxpayer money but not
government control.
    Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says
“there is no one-size-fits-all idea.“ Sebelius appeared on ABC’s
“This Week” and CNN’s “State of the Union.“
    Obama is addressing the American Medical Association‘s annual
meeting in Chicago Monday.
    A senior administration official says Obama will tell the
doctors that reducing health-care costs is the most important thing
he can do for the country’s long-term fiscal health.
