Report: BMW Offering Buyouts To Workers At Greer Plant
Published: July 29, 2009
Production workers at Greer’s BMW plant are reportedly being offered voluntary buyouts to leave their jobs. According to News Channel 7’s coverage partners at the ‘Herald Journal’, the move is a result of the company’s annoucement at the end of last year to cut 8,100 workers worldwide.
The Greer facility spokesperson told the ‘Herald Journal’ they are offering buyouts here because they were offered at every other plant. He would not discuss the buyout terms. The Greer plant expansion is still underway, but the markets will decide how many new people they hire.
