SC Considering More Budget Cuts: Schools Big Losers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina budget oversight panel will meet to discuss cutting another $87 million from the state spending plan, with public schools losing $37 million.
The Budget and Control Board plans to meet Wednesday and take up plans to cut 1.7 percent from the state’s budget. The five-member board can only make across-the-board cuts to keep the state from running a deficit.
That meeting comes a week after the Board of Economic Advisors trimmed 1 percent from the state’s revenue forecast.
It’s another round of bad fiscal news. Since the current budget took effect in July, $1 billion has been carved from state spending. It’s taken a toll on health care and education programs and most agencies have lost a fifth or more of their state budget.

Our children have a hard enough time getting the supplies they need to learn with. How can we keep allow our states to cut school budgets when there is plenty of other cuts that can be cut to help them cut cost.I am so disappointed in our government system and how far United states goes to help other countries but lack the responbility of helping our own right here that are suffering, and needs help.May God lay his hands on all Christains to fight for our rights.I thought this is why Americans exscaped England’s hold to have more freedom and rights to practice our own religion and government
