South Carolina: $328 Million in Stimulus Received So Far

The state of South Carolina has received over $328 million dollars from the federal stimulus as of Wednesday morning.

The vast majority of those dollars have gone to the Department of Health and Human Services for Medicaid. A total of $263,851,919 has gone to DHHS.

Comptroller Richard Eckstrom says four other agencies have received federal stimulus money:

- Office on Aging—$58,017 (meals for senior citizens)
- Department of Education—$17,178,039 (payments to school districts)
- Employment Security Commission: $45,598,262 (Unemployment benefits)
- Department of Health and Environmental Control: $1,326,291 (Clean water, safe drinking water projects)

South Carolina state agencies are expected to receive a total of about $2.8 billion from the stimulus package.
