Six Mile, S.C, - A Pickens woman was charged with public disorderly conduct after deputies say she rode a horse on Main Street through Six Mile.

Tracy Nadine Ellenburg, 40, was charged by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office around 1:35pm on July 25.

A pedestrian told deputies a woman was riding a horse on the double-yellow line and was having trouble staying on the animal according to the incident report.  “They say she rode it back and forth between cars, stopping cars,“ says witness Cindy Leitzsey.  Deputies found the horse tied to a park bench at the gas pumps at the convenience store where Leitzsey works. Ellenburg was inside trying to use the phone when she was asked for identification.  “Somebody called the law for drunk driving.  Drunk riding rather,“ Leitzsey says.

The incident report says Ellenburg smelled of alcohol and said she had consumed a six pack of beer before leaving on the horse.  “She even stopped at the cub scouts car wash booster, and she asked them to wash her horse,“ says witness Paul Pratt.  Laurie Bray watched the whole thing too.  “I told ‘em if she was gonna do it, she should have stolen a car.  At least get away!  Cause a horse doesn’t go very fast.  Somebody’s gonna notice!“

The horse’s owner, Tim Mauldin, told Newschannel 7 he won’t press charges this time.  “If she does it again I will,“ he says.

In the meantime, the horse named “Fancy” sure did fancy all the attention.  “I just stood there and held the horse, and the ice cream man came up and gave it a popcicle, somebody else gave it an apple,“ says Leitzsey.  “It was one of those Six Mile moments for sure,“ says Bray.  “That won’t ever happen again.“

Crazy stunt….just having fun??

There’s a HUGE difference between having a bit of harmless fun and just being stupid. This so-called stunt could have gotten her, that poor horse or some innocent person maimed OR even killed. Instead of slapping her on the back of the hand…..maybe someone should have put her drunk rump to work cleaning out stalls on a horse farm.

Well, I guess she didn’t get a DUI since the horse was smart enough to stay under the legal limit!!!

I too am more concerned about the animal.  Let somebody steal one of my “babies” and they’ll have more than charges to face if I get my hands on them…...drunk or not.  Being drunk is no excuse.  She’s pathetic and will probably never realize how lucky she is that the owner didn’t press charges or take matters into his or her own hands.

Back in them thar olden days they probably wouldve been hung….Now a days they smack people on the back of hand and tell them not to do it again…..But I guess the owner was glad the horse was still alive and well when it was found !!!!

I thought horse stealing was a hanging offence …. Boy she got lucky the owner didn’t press charges.

I wonder if she will be embarrassed after she sees the write up in the paper and sees her mug shot? I wouldn’t be able to show my face in public for years to come. I agree with Lulu about the safe return of the horse unharmed. I am a huge animal lover. I wonder what the poor horse thought of all that “drunk riding”?

THANK GOD SHE DIDNT HURT THE ANIMAL IN THE PROCESS BUT ALSO I AGREE WITH YA’LL SHE DIDNT HURT NO ONE ELSE BY DRIVING - AND SHE DIDNT HURT HERSELF EITHER - OF COURSE A DRUNK IN THE JAIL BIRD PAGES - THEY LOOK LIKE DEER IN HEAD LIGHTS - EVER SEE THOSE…...WOULDNT HAVE THAT LOOK IF THEY HADNT BEEN DRINKING/DRIVING…..
