Sheriff’s Office to Host ID Theft Seminar

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office will host an identity theft seminar for the public Thursday night at Marietta First Baptist Church.

The seminar starts at 7:00pm at the church at 2936 Geer Highway in Marietta.

The Sheriff’s Office will offer these seminars at various locations throughout the county during the next month.

Identity theft Security.com reports there were 2,408 cases in South Carolina in 2006. There were 5,748 reported that year in North Carolina.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office White Collar Crimes Unit will take part in the April 23 seminar. The Sheriff’s Office says identity thieves prey on the elderly often through various scams which will be identified during the session.
