Ike Slams Turks and Caicos, CAT 4, Moves on to Haiti

The National Hurricane Center in Miami says an “extremely dangerous” Hurricane Ike has damaged 80 percent of the homes on Grand Turk island.
Ike, a category 4 hurricane, has moved on to Haiti.  Ike has winds of 135 mph as of the lastest advisory at 8 AM Sunday, with higher gusts.

Forecasters say the center of Tropical Storm Hanna has hit the tourist beaches near the line between North and South Carolina.
The National Hurricane Center said Hanna came on shore at about 3:20 a.m. this morning. The storm had winds near 70 miles per hour
before it roared onto land.

Hanna made landfall shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday. The National Hurricane Center will issue an official time at 5 a.m. Saturday. The center told us that they only regularly issue landfall advisories as they happen with hurricanes, not tropical storms.
