    WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush says he is going to Texas on
Tuesday to express sympathy and lend support to victims of
Hurricane Ike.
    He says the first priority after the massive storm is search and
rescue. The president is appealing to people who evacuated before
the hurricane to listen to local authorities before trying to
return home.
    The president had a White House briefing Sunday on the hurricane
and recovery efforts. He tells reporters that Ike was a tough storm
and it will take time for people to recover.
    Bush says the government will keep close watch to make sure that
gas stations are not gouging customers.
