News Channel 7 has learned that the South Carolina Law Enforcement division now as an open investigation into Cherokee County’s jail. The investigation comes after a Department of Corrections report claims jail employees allowed a former inmate to have sexual relationships out of the facility and run a business behind bars. Today, we have new information about the former inmate’s plans to marry a detention center employee, who now out of a job.

The jail is not your typical place to plan a wedding, but that’s just what the DOC found happening at the jail back in May.

Inside convicted drug trafficker Kevin Bell’s cell, investigators found a wedding invitation and a list of 60 names on the guest list. On the list, many deputies, detention officers, a solicitor investigator and five judges.

His bride-to-be was supposed to be former detention officer Kim Wilson. Earlier this week, the sheriff’s office terminated her employment after News Channel 7 questioned the sheriff about the report last week.

Before his wedding plans, the report also claims that inmate Bell spent much of his time outside the jail, including Chuck E. Cheese, where he spent the day at his daughter’s birthday party.

The report also claims the former inmate made bank visits, where investigators found Bell deposited about $23,000 dollars while incarcerated; took a trip Wal-Mart; restaurants; his mother’s residence, a Christmas dinner with the county’s chief deputy and a Harley shop.

The report also claims another inmate put out election signs for Sheriff Bill Blanton.

Blanton denies most of the report, but over the phone last week, he did tell us he allowed Bell to sell a leather jack for him on Ebay.com.

Cherokee County probate court says it does not have a marriage license on file for Bell or Wilson. Calls to their home phone were not returned.

SLED says the investigation could take weeks to complete.

Correction, Ben_Knew, Mr. Bell worked for Tim Spencer WHILE incarcerated! And I said that in my first statement; if it’s possible to make so much money while making time, then it should be possible for the men locked up for child support to make money while locked up so the money can go to their kids. I’ve always known that this town had a department full of crooked cops. It’s just pitiful! Know when I see a cop car, I just shake my head. And like I said before, these good ol’ BOYS will run like scared little boys do and turn on each other. You see what’s going on with Officer Jameson. They have protected him for years! He’s a wife and child abuser and before now, they’ve not taken any of this serious. Had no intentions of doing anything about him; laughing his first wife out of court when she tried to tell them about the abuse she experienced while married to him. And these child abuse charges are from 2005! They never planned on doing anything about him, but now that all this s*** has stirred, all of a sudden, it’s taken seriously!!! Remember my previous comment, ALOT OF SECRETS ARE ABOUT TO COME OUT!!!

why is it you can go to other counties and see females working at sheriff’s offices but theres none at cherokee county? there’s alot of inocent people that have done time and are still duing time because of the crooked cops in cherokee county. maybe someone should come from out of state to investagate before the good ol boys get away again!!!and on my pervious comments about the inmates sorry i made the mistake..bell was doing time for drugs and jackson was duing the time for murder..and jackson was the one i saw driving on calls by his self.. looks like the sheriff would have had to know dont they all have cameras in there cars?

We can see why Inmate, & Drug Trafficker, Bell received special priviledges now. Inmate Bell was doing special things for Sheriff Bill Blanton by selling for him on e-bay. Seems Inmate Bell was also purchasing cars for County Councilman Tim Spencer. At least that is what Kim Wilson, Inmate Bell’s wife or soon to be wife stated to Dept. of Corrections when they questioned her about Inmate Bell using a computer while incarcerated.
County Councilman, Tim Spencer hired Inmate & Drug Trafficker Bell to come to work with him when he was released from jail. County Councilman, Spencer owns Carolina Collision and said he believes in giving people a 2nd chance.
That is real nice of you Councilman Spencer, but why not give a hard working man that just lost his job recently a second chance at working??
Or, if you are just partial to inmates and have so much sympathy for them, why not give someone that lost their job and was incarcerated for child support a 2nd chance??????
Councilman Spencer is considering running for a higher office.
I wonder if he is elected, will he continue to socialize with drug traffickers & inmates or maybe take them with you to the House of Representatives. I WONDER?

I am so tired of these cry babies about the cherokee county sheriff’s department. You can call all the people you want in to investigate as a matter of fact we encourage a investigation and when the department is cleared what is everyone going to cry about then. Whats going to be next first it was about a few dogs killed legally and now the sheriff’s department.
