New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has been projected the winner of the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary.

Clinton, who trailed Illinois Senator Barack Obama in the delegate count, has been considered the frontrunner in the primary for the past several weeks. However, polls have suggested that Obama had cut into Clinton’s lead in the past few weeks.

Exit polls on Tuesday revealed that most of the democratic voters were overwhelmingly white and there were more women than men. Preliminary results show that nearly half of the voters were from families that earned less than $50,000 last year, a quarter of voters had household incomes of $100,000.

One in five voters said they chose their candidate within the final week of the campaign. About one in 10 said they made up their mind today with the economy being the most important issue to most.
