2 Charged In Child Abuse Case

Police charged Jennifer Heried and Clinton Betterton after Heried’s toddler was hospitalized for any injury to the side of his face.
Heried took her 16-month-old to the hospital for an injury to his eye, according to the Lauren’s County Sheriff’s Office.  Heried told doctors the baby was in a play pen for a nap, and when he woke up there was a small mark on his eye.  This happened at a home on Rocky Springs Church Road in Laurens County.
Heried is charged with child neglect.  Her boyfriend, Betterton, is charged with assaulting the child. The toddler has been placed in protective custody.
