A mother and daughter are dead after a Friday afternoon accident in Pickens County.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said that 78-year old Lillian Tate and her 57-year old daughterm Deborah Whitmire, both of Irene Circle in Greenville, died as a result of the accident, which occurred on Tabor Wood Road just after 3:30 Friday afternoon.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says that Tate was driving a Chevy Lumina when she lost control of the vehicle, went down an embankment, rolled several times and struck a tree. Kelley says that neither woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and Whitmire was ejected from the car.
Whitmire was pronounced dead at palmetto Health Baptist, while Tate was pronounced dead at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
The accident is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
