The Mitchell County Sheriff`s Office has canceled an Amber Alert for 2 children:  Alexander Lee Suddeath and Heidi Elizabeth Suddeath.
Investigators said the children were found safe.

They were last seen on Roan Mountain in Mitchell County. Their parents lost sight of the children while returning to a public parking lot on the mountain.

Investigators say Aaound 2 pm Wednesday afternoon, the children wandered off away from their parents. Crews began searching until early Thursday morning around 3:01 am. Rescue crews resumed searching this morning and around 12:40 the children were found.

Searchers were not sure if the kids were lost or had been kidnapped, but apparently they wandered about a mile away from where they were last seen on a steep, rocky area that is dangerous for even the most expert hikers.

The boy is Alex, 6-years old, and he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and crocs. His 4-year old sister, Heidi, was wearing a t-shirt, skirt and crocs.

Rescuers say that the kids at some point stopped and slept aside a log all night and rescuers ended up finding them near where they slept last night.

One of the kids lost the pair of crocs and it led rescuers to their locations.

The kids were given some Gatorade, nutter butters and an oatmeal pie and they are fine.
