ANDERSON COUNTY — On Sunday an 18-year-old man returned to his home from a gay pride parade and was assaulted by his father with a baseball bat, according to News Channel 7 coverage partner the Anderson Independent.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the battering took place about 1 p.m. Sunday on P Street.

During the assault, the teen’s 49-year-old father yelled, cursed, swung a bat, prayed and tried to “cast the demon of homosexuality out of him,” according to the teen’s version of events to Deputy S.C. Weymouth, the incident report states.

About 2 p.m. Wednesday, the teen said his father punched him when he returned to the house for clothes that he left on Sunday, the report states.

The teen told deputies that his father “has a problem with him being gay and that is why he hit him with the baseball bat Sunday,” Weymouth said in his report.

The teen filed both complaints about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies, who have not been able to make immediate contact with the teen’s father, report that both incidents are under investigation.

If you use the word “sinful” I expect you follow the bible. I think of the Savior as he ministered on the earth. He only had 3 years to be here and do all that he had to do in that time. I can only imagine that he spent all of his time on the very most important things and never wasted his time.

When you say you beat your son because of his “sin” I am reminded of the example of Jesus with the woman who was accused of adultery. He asked all around who could cast the first stone from their own purity all left. He looked up and asked the woman where her accusers were, he told her to leave.

I do remember Jesus getting physical and kicking people out of his house, interestingly it was the people who were the most self righteous that he beat and kick out of the temple.

Perhaps if you had been there with your son accusing him to the saviour you would have cast the first stone…

Funny how we use religion to cover our own sins and to condemn others specifically when the example Jesus shows is to condemn no one not even the most vile sinner. Yet we use Jesus to justify our own mischief, I wonder how he feels about that?

I do know that the publicans and saducees where not his favorite people he tended to condemn them all the time. (they were the so called true believers of their time)

I feel sorry for you that you judge your son in this way, yet the great commandment is to love god and to love our fellow man. If your son is not your fellow man I’ll leave that between you and Jesus to sort out.

“It’s not the homosexuals I hate, it’s their sinful lifestyle. That’s why I beat my own son and kicked him out of the house. No offense, son.“
