BIC USA Will Close Fountain Inn Plant

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (AP) - BIC USA Inc. will cut 29 jobs in South Carolina when it closes its plant in Fountain Inn in June 2010.

The company said in a news release Wednesday that the plant makes WiteOut correction fluid and ink for its line of highlighters and roller pens.

The company says WiteOut production will move to a third-party manufacturer in Asia and the ink production will be absorbed by other BIC plants outside the U.S.

BIC is based in Shelton, Conn., and makes pens, lighters and shaving razors.
