Officials in Cherokee County say that a teenager has become the fifth victim of a serial killer.

At a press conference held Saturday afternoon, Cherokee County officials said that 15-year old Abby Tyler died around 11:25 Saturday morning at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Tyler was found shot, along with her father, Stephen, inside the family’s business at Tyler Home Center in Gaffney around 7:15 Thursday night. Stephen Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says that law enforcement continues to work around the clock and follow-up on every lead and reports involving descriptions of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.  Fowler asked that people continue to pray for the Tyler family, along with the rest of the victim’s families and the Cherokee County community as a whole.

The suspect is a white man about 6’ 2”.  He weighs about 250 lbs and had salt and pepper colored hair when the first witness saw him.  Authorities are also saying the suspect had large blue eyes.

News Channel 7’s Elizabeth Owens has more on this story.

I just saw on CNN that Abby passed away this morning. My heart is breaking.

My niece is only a couple of years older than Abby & I can’t imagine how I’d react if something like this happened to her.

My thoughts & prayers go out to Abby’s family & everyone else that has been affected by this.

I pray that the police catch this madman soon.

This is awful.  I live in NC and we have cops everywhere here too.  My thoughts and prayers are extended to the Tyler Family.  I can’t imagine being in Megan’s position and losing your Dad and now also your sister.  This has to be so hard.  I went to Cherokee Avenue when I was younger and what happened Thursday really hit home for my family.  I hope they catch this person really soon before something else happens.  Thoughts and prayers are also with the Cash and the Linder/Parker families.  God Speed.

Thanks BEE & WHEELER. I don’t live in Gaffney so I appreciate the info. I may not live there but my heart still aches for the victims and their family. I am so sorry your town is having to go through this horrible ordeal. Just know everything happens for a reason and God is always with you. I will be praying for all of you!

My thoughts and prayers are with Abby Tylers Mother and Sister. It is sad to know that the day we are celebrating our independance, is the day they will be mourning the loss of a daughter/sister for years to come. Abby is with Jesus now. No more pain. No more suffering. God bless her family and friends during this tragedy. I am praying this lunatic is caught before he can take another innocent life! What a coward he is to kill innocent people that have never done anything to him! I hope the person(s) that find him, put a few rounds in this crazed, anger stricken man! All we can do is pray and hope during this catastrophic happening. God be with us all!

I was thinking the same thing!! Unless the car was doing doughnuts in the road right in front of the police, why would they pull off of a shooting call to pursue this other car???? Why did she run—-why did she shoot at police—-Why did she shoot herself in the head??????????????  Also, that in itself would be a big news story.Yet we don’t hear anything about it.  Just swept under the rug. ummmm hummm
