Coastal Residents Booking Upstate Hotels

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

With Tropical Storm Hanna predicted to make landfall along the Carolinas – likely as a hurricane - Upstate hotels are booking a lot of reservations from people who live along the coast. The Residence Inn on Fairforest Road in Spartanburg is almost sold out of rooms. A spokesperson says many people from the Charleston and Myrtle Beach areas have booked rooms. They will arrive Thursday and stay through Sunday. The Hampton Inn & Suites in Spartanburg says a few evacuees have already arrived. The Marriott in Greenville is almost booked solid, with 45 coastal residents scheduled to arrive Thursday.
But as the forecasted track of the storm has continued to shift north, other coastal residents are cancelling their reservations. A spokesperson for the Hampton Inn in Greenville says several people from Charleston who had booked rooms have now called to cancel those plans. The hotel says it is offering evacuees a discounted rate.
