A 19-year old Easley man is dead after a tragic accident Tuesday morning.

The Pickens County Coroner’s Office says that William Ficklin, of 155 Lumber Mill Dr., Easley, was killed from a gunshot wound to the chest. The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office says that Ficklin had been hunting with a 17-year old friend Gary Medlin earlier in the day.  Medlin had been using a shotgun that had been giving him trouble. The sheriff’s office says that Medlin laid the gun on the table it discharged and shot Ficklin in the chest.

Ficklin was transported to Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital in Easley where he died from his injuries.  The Sheriff’s Office says that two people were in the room at the time of the shooting and the shooting appears to be accidental and is still under investigation.
