We talked exclusively to one of the soldiers at Ft. Hood, who was on the base as Thursday’s shooting rampage unfolded.
That army specialist, Brian Marlowe is from Rutherfordton in Rutherford County.
He spoke with NewsChannel 7 from his home on the base at Ft. Hood, moments after the lockdown was lifted.
For hours, he didn’t know if there was a gunman threatening him and his family’s safety. Marlowe’s home is on the base, just down the road from the building where the shooting happened.
The tense moments began with an announcement across the base.
“It says—seek shelter immediately—and lock your doors and windows and turn off your ventilation system.“
Marlowe continued, “Its real sad for something like this to happen I really can’t understand why.“
NewsChannel 7 heard from many of you who have family serving at Ft. Hood.
A lot of family waiting for the call that their loved one was ok.

Another Rutherford county soldier at Fort Hood , PFC David Ellenburg was driving by when the shooting started , I am thankful for all the service members for their bravery , Tho one can never for see what to expect but to always be aware of their surroundings.
We can not blame the Majors kin nor his race , nor can we blame his culture . I am proud of all who serve in the military an with 3 in the army I can only pray that their training an ability will keep them an those around them safe.
