Exclusive: “Swinger” Parties Coming To Spartanburg Saturday Night
» 19 Comments | Post a Comment

ONLY ON NEWSCHANNEL 7:

Swapping sex partners. Its called “swinging”. Potentially hundreds are scheduled to gather to take part at 2 local hotels, and not everyone is happy about it.

The parties are scheduled to take place at the Spartanburg Radisson, and the Country Hearth Inn, according to organizers and advertisements for both events. Both hotels are off of business interstate-85.

The Xanadu Club’s website, asks ladies to dress sensuously, when they and others gather tomorrow night.

The club’s organizer confirmed to NewsChannel 7 that their “swinger” event will be taking place saturday night at Spartanburg County’s Country Hearth Inn. About 40 couples are expected to attend. “Swinging” means swapping intimate partners.

But get this: We’ve learned another group, that calls its self South Carolina’s hottest, sexiest lifestyle club, will be partying right across the street at a hotel thats not identified by the group, but who’s pictures are posted on their site. It’s clearly the Spartanburg Radisson.
That party is being hosted by the Foothills Club.

Their site says they expect 150 sexy seductive hot couples to take over the hotel.

What they are advertising is perfectly legal, and would be done in the privacy of hotel rooms.

But the radisson for one, is the same hotel that caters to local church groups. And its got pastors like Rev. Mike Hamlet of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, upset.

“We are shocked and saddened..this conduct has come to spartanburg county. we are outraged…a hotel who we have done business with would partner with a group…so diametrically opposed to the values of our community.“

He says its not about infringing on rights.

“We are not judging these people.“

But he says the public venues are unacceptable.

“The problem is not with the people..they are not our enemy…the hotels have a responsibility to the community.“

We went to the Country Hearth Inn to see if the manager was aware Xanadu was staying there. She denied they were.

We also walked into the Radisson, where the manager told us because of privacy policies he couldn’t confirm or deny the Foothills Club was staying there.

Organizers for both events didn’t want to talk on camera for our report.

But the organizer for the Foothills Club told us over the phone, its simply a dance party taking place this weekend, and refused to comment on the more “intimate” details we found on his site.

As of now, the parties are still on.

Not only did the Radisson allow this type of activity, they went SO low as to offer a $50 rate to match the Country Hearth Inn. Speaks for itself!
As they say, “you get for what you pay for and you pay for what you get” SWING OUT!!

I am also a former employee of the Radisson. This kind of activity allowed to be conducted at the Radisson is typical. I would imagine most current employees are truly embarrased to even be associated with this type of enviroment. Just another sign of poor management. What a shame! Swing Out.

It’s very sad that you felt this was something that you needed to do a news story on.  With all the problems facing everyone in the upstate with the economy, loss of jobs and homes, you felt it was more important to do a report on private parties being held at local hotels in this area. What’s next, weddings, family reunions, conferences being held in upstate hotels…cause we all know what happens at those parties or events….you bring a large number of like minded individuals together and, Oh My Gosh… What adult couples chose to do with their private lives is their own business. Live and let live!!!

I was pretty perturbed by the comments made by the “Baptist Minister”, he stated he was not judging, his statements had judgement written all over it. Maybe he should get out his Funk & Wagnalls and look up the meaning of judgement. Or better yet, find the verse in his Bible that states “Thou Shalt Not Pass Judgement”. Does he personally know these people?. I don’t participate in the lifestyle but know several who do and they are outstanding citizens who constantly and without hesitation give back to their community.  Maybe Channel 7 should do their side of the story..

Thanks for running the story on the lifestyle. Alot of people, most likely were not aware of two clubs in the Spartanburg area. Now they know thanks to you.
I am not sure how the hotel feels but free advertising never hurts. You did more in a minute for us than I could have done in months. Saved us a lot of time and expense.
Keep up the good work News 7. I am really proud of Mr. Carlton. Now all he needs to do now is take some of his time and read up on the lifestyle and start using modern day terms. The term wife swapping went out years ago.
Just so Mr. Carlton and the rest of those that are interested, the lifestyle started during World War II, at a time when the men of our country were off fighting a war for our freedom. The agreement then was that the men left at home would take care of the needs of the wives that were left behind.
You see this isn’t cheating or running around behind your partners back. If Mr. Carlton would do his home work he would find out that the divorce rate for those in the lifestyle is almost zero. He will also find some of the nicest people in the world.
If Mr Carton would have the person that reported this to News 7 come forward I would be happy to sit down in a face to face interview with him. Fact of the matter this person is just a coward trying to start trouble most likely because he or she was not allowed in our club. We have standards and most likely this man or woman did not meet our standards.

This has got to stop!!!, and by this I mean the hate and need churches and other such groups feel that they have just got to have against grown people gathering in a completely legal setting and doing nothing wrong (legaly I mean because this is the part where your beliefs are yours and you don’t get to force them on someone else no matter how much you want to ). These types of groups have been around forever ( as i’m sure those of you who lived through the 60’s know ) and they will not go away no matter how much you protest. To have such a thing reported to a news channel makes the complaintant sound like a petulant child crying because someone has the toy they wanted. If you don’t like that the group is there then don’t go to the hotel this weekend, but to swear off of it forever is just nuts. Please guys and gals spread love not hate, and for goodness sake don’t run crying to the news channel whenever you feel like your oh so up-tight bubble is in danger of bursting.

If that hotel wants to promote that type of thing- that is on them.  As long as they understand that there are people out there who will boycott them and obviously not want to be around that sort of thing…they will lose buisness.  I cannot say for others, but my man is just that… MY man and i won’t be sharing.

As long as they are not breaking any laws, leave them alone.  BTW, they have been here for several years

i am a previos employer af the radisson hotel in spartanburg, and i can tell you first hand, The Radisson Hotel coudn’t care less who is in the hotel, as long as they get paid for them being there. and no, the employees are not well compensated for any inconviences put upon them from guests with no respect or well manners towards others…..that is why i am a former employee and not a current employee. SWING ON!!
