Woman Pulled From Burning Home In Greenville County

  Update
Parker Fire Chief Richard Jones says the cause of fire was electrical cords overloading.  He says woman is still expected to be okay.

The fire chief cautions that electrical cord overloading is one of the most common causes of fires in the home.

Firefighters and neighbors are being hailed as heroes for pulling a woman out of a burning home. The fire started at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday night at a home on Monroe Street in Greenville County.
Crews could see flames and smoke coming from the home. They had no idea anyone was inside until firefighters kicked in the door and rushed into the living room.
Early Wednesday morning, the Parker Fire Chief said they found two disoriented men in the home. and a woman who needed help fast.
“She was in the front room unconscious so evidently she was making an attempt to get out and passed out in the living room area”, said Parker Fire Chief Richard Jones. Chief Jones said the two men inside the home were the woman’s neighbors. They tried to save her but were overcome by smoke.
Jones said the men are okay, but the woman was rushed to Greenville Hospital System for smoke inhalation.  Her name has not been released, but firefighters said she has a good chance of a full recovery because her vital signs were strong.
The arson team was at the home until early Wednesday morning. They plan to return to the scene after daylight Wednesday to continue the investigation.
Jones said the fire will likely be ruled accidental and appears to have started in the kitchen.

First off let me thank the support of the firefighters and EMS for their response and course of action but this is incorrect reporting, the 2 men identified one was her grandson and the other was the neighbor, the grandson who is my brother kicked out the bedroom window in an attempt to get her out of her bedroom and upon realizing she wasn’t there came back out for air, the neighbor then kicked down the living room door and the grandson crawled under the smoke finding his grandma in the living room unconscious and with the help of the neighbor pulled her out to safety, not to take anything from the “first responders” but credit shall be giving where it is due and on this day my brother and the neighbor were the true heroes, I am a current enlisted airman in the United States Air Force as a K-9 handler and the grandson of this very fortunate woman, she is doig much better and her health is progressing each day that passes, thanks to those who read the article and the story and for those who sent their prayers with our family, all donations that were provided are greatly appreciated in this effort to help start her life over from scratch, for any questions or support please e-mail me at christian.johnson@malmstrom.af.mil

Now that is what I call “good neighbors”.  And Felix, I agree with you there have been a lot of fires lately and a lot of it has been the elderly.  This article did not state the age of this lady.  I know she is thankful to have such good neighbors!!

Is it my imagination or have there been an unusual number of fires lately?
