Lake Keowee will soon have a floating toilet on it’s waters.

County Officials say the new facility will help keep the lake’s shores clean.  “We’ve had a problem lately with diapers,“ Pickens County Administrator Chappel Hurst said.

The floating toilet will house four toilets and baby changing area.  The entire cost of the project is $135,000.  Duke Energy donated $7,000 for the project.  $25,000 is coming from the boating gas tax.  A grant from the U.S. Clean Water Act will cover 75 percent of the project.

Some fisherman say it’s a waste of money.  They believe the money should be spent on clean up crews.

The floating toilet is set to open in about 90 days.  It will be positioned in the water not far from Mile Park.
