Former Chapman H.S. Band Director Pleads Guilty

    Former Chapman High School Band Director, Thomas Khoe, pleaded guilty Monday to 2 counts of assault and battery of an aggravated nature, after four female color guard members say he touched them inappropriately in the fall of 2007.
    Khoe admitted in court that he kissed his thumbs and pressed them to the lips of two girls. He also admitted to touching a third girl in a sexually suggestive way. 
    Two of the victims testified in court today. The parents of another child testified on their daughter’s behalf. The group told Judge Couch they didn’t want to see Khoe go to prison. They also asked Judge Couch to take Khoe’s teaching license and consider the idea of adding him to the Sex Offender Registry.
    Khoe was given 4 years probation, 2 years of which he will be on GPS monitoring.  If he violates this probation in any way he will go to jail for 6 years. 
    The Spartanburg County Solicitor’s Office says the only times he is allowed to leave home is to go to work, church, medical appointments and the grocery store, because he is single.
    Khoe is barred from taking a job where he supervises anyone under the age of 18. He is also required to permanently surrender his teaching license, which he did voluntarily. 
    Judge Couch told Khoe he will await the results of a psychiatric evaluation before deciding if Khoe must register as a sex offender.
