**Update 8:55 a.m.**
The attorney in this case was unable to make it to court Wednesday morning.  The next hearing for the former deputies is scheduled for July 8 at 9 a.m. at the Polk County courthouse in Columbus.

Two former Polk County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Deputies are scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday morning. A woman claimed the deputies used a taser on her more than a dozen times while she was handcuffed in the fall of 2008. Derrick Lavon Twitty and Joshua David Denton are charged with assault on a female.
The men are no longer deputies with Polk County. they were not re-hired when the current sheriff took over. Twitty and Denton were supposed to have a hearing in March but it was delayed.
