A couple across the street from the scene of the shooting says they saw an Explorer pull up early this morning and turn off its lights. They called it in to police as a burglary. The man who lives next door says he recognized the vehicle as similar to what he’d seen on news reports on the serial killer. He says he didn’t tell his wife because he didn’t want her worried, but that he wanted police there. The woman, Terry Valentine, says she saw the homeowners get out of the vehicle when police arrived, then saw another man she didn’t know stumble out of the vehicle. She says he was a big guy, around 6’2”-6’4” with a stocky build, large ears and hair tuffed out.
Valentine says, they were all talking to police and the three went inside. She heard someone yell, “put it down!“
Valentine says the police went in and she saw the flash from one shot coming from inside the home fired toward the police officer then there was a ton of other gunfire.
She then saw an officer walk out, slump over a patrol car and heard another officer on the radio saying, an officer has been shot.
Valentine tells News Channel 7, the house has not been lived in for months and there is no electricity.

first let me say I’m am so glad this is over, maybe the families of those killed can began to heal knowing he can never hurt anyone again. I was praying it would end soon as I had to return to work in Gaffney tommorow. What about the couple that was arrested the homeowners of the house were the police shot and killed him? I just wondered maybe they had helped him in some way.
im glad they killed that horrible man and may everyone have a good nite sleep now
im a police officer and my thoughts and prayers are with the officer from gaston.. hope his recovery is quick!! GREAT JOB!!
AP is reporting this was the serial killer..hope so. Thing that puzzles me is a deputy in our area said it wasn’t he just couldn’t say why? But I am believing the AP & now hopefully the area will not forget to pray for those families left behind
Dear Lord please let this be him. Praying hard! You know Rick you could be right.
I so hope that this is the guy that has hurt all of these ppl he has not only hurt the families of ppl he shot but all of gaffney bc i have a 5 and 4 year old who is scared to death we dont even let our boys go out n play. When we do have to go out they are always saying hey that might be him that looks like him. I cant even sleep at night im up n down all night checking on my kids making sure they are ok and looking outside its so aweful hopefully this is the guy so that all of Gaffney can now rest in peace and grieve n peace. We all need to give thanks to the officers who have worked as much as they can to solve this for us. Thank U all very much and GOD BLESS
I really hope this is the last of the serial killer. I don’t wish death to no one but this one comes with an exception. This man has taken innocent lives from elder to younger. My prayers are with the families that has lost love ones. I only knew Mr.Tyler for a short period of time by going into his store but I do know he was a nice man. I pray that this destrubed man is captured DEAD or ALIVE. I understand that his capture want take away the hurt or pain neither will it bring back the ones whom they lost that were so close to there hearts but at lease they will have closure to know he’s captured. My thing is to be watchful of my surroundings and keep praying for God’s shield and protection not only for me and my family but for us all whom are dealing with the this tragedy because reather it hit your front door or not if you have a heart and care about people reather it be your family or not it still involves ALL OF US!
Are you kidding me renee you are posting here also about rumors? If you will notice a lot of the things people were saying before the news said it was true! You are the one that needs to stop but if you dont wont to you dont have to because that’s what blogging is all about!!!
The thing is!! the serial killer will either die now or die in prison, i hope they got the serial killer! but if they did kill him we might never know why this crazy man did what he done!! or should i say maybe hes the one also had something to do with the motorcycle shop killings in chesnee!!5 or 6 years ago. now nobody will ever know for sure…....
I hope they catch this guy soon but I don’t see how these rumors are of any comfort to any of us. I really don’t think people should be posting blogs on rumors and unknown facts. I think this is just as bad as not knowing at all. I’m sure as soon as law enforcement officers know anything we will be made aware, until then rumors are just that Rumors.
