It is a controversial issue that had supporters and protestors out in full force Saturday in Spartanburg.
The first ever gay pride parade made its way through the streets of downtown Spartanburg as supporters marched and protestors demonstrated peacefully. And for those marching it was a day of history.
“This is an important day in history for gays and lesbians,“ said Harriet Hancock. “It’s one of the first steps in achieving full civil rights for the gay community and i’m proud to be apart of it.“
Hancock, who is heterosexual, joined several other homosexuals from the upstate and beyond to march on downtown Spartanburg for the first time ever. While Hancock and other supporters for gay rights were marching, so were protestors, who had made their way from across the upstate and beyond.
“We’re hoping for a little more tolerance,“ said Jay Ault, a supporter of gay rights. “We know that’s easier said than done. That a lot of people are set in their views and these don’t change easily.“
Joshua Spencer was one of the protestors who took to the street to express his views and opposition to the march.
“They want to bring their agenda to the people of Spartanburg and we want to oppose that agenda,“ said Spencer. Protestors like Spencer lined the streets with signs and words that let the supporters know how they felt about the parade.
One sign read, “Let Jesus save your life,“ and protestors walked alongside the supporters marching as they were urged to bring the signs. “Let’s go ya’ll, bring the signs,“ one protestor said. “Bring the signs.“
Despite the opposition and disagreement on the issue, the controversial march went off without any problems and ended peacefully. However, few people changed their thoughts on the subject and continued to voice their opinion.
“I believe it’s un-scriptual,“ said one protestor. “I believe it’s unholy, and I believe it’s an abomination of what the bible says.“
“They have nothing else to do all day but come out here and watch us,“ said one supporter. “That’s okay. They don’t bother us.“
But for supporters like Ault, they feel they have accomplished something.
“The time for pride is now,“ he said. “You’ve got to have pride in yourself and you’ve got to be true to yourself.“

think2009, I hope you will begin thinking about what you are saying and doing. You personify the hatred that the G&L group has of God and Christians. If hearing the TRUTH upsets you as it does, then you really know that you are wrong and committing sin and you are trying to find some way to justify your sins…but it’s not there. As I said earlier, God destroyed large numbers of gay people in the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah, and He has destroyed and led armies to destroy many others that he found abomination in. It has been proven over and over again that being gay is your choice, you were not born that way. Only you can escape the evil clutches it has on you. Numerous previous gay people have accepted Christ and now preach and give talks to your group and to others about the sinful life they had lived and given direction as to how to escape Satan’s hold on them. Until God accepts your lifestyle and tells us that the Bible is wrong, we will never accept your lifestyle as anything but evil and filth. God bless you and the others that took part in the parade. You still have the choice and a chance to make a lifesaving change. Do it.

ANSWER the question if one of you children or grandchildren told you they were gay , what would you do. If you dont even know they are, they kept it a secret, how would that change your mind? Stop lying about being a Christian. All of the real Christians who are reading your tripe can easily tell you are lying about having faith. You might be able to fool some of the unbelieving ignoramouses here, but that would be all.
God finally let the people of Sodom and the people of Gomorrah see His wrath with the total destruction of those two cities and all within. The G&L movement in the USA is not going unnoticed by our Creator and we can expect to receive His wrath one day and it will be on a far greater scale than what happened to those two cities.

Who and what exactly is a preacher?? You hang on every word some of this buffoons say. They are HUMAN, MAN. They are better than you and me, how? Do you want me to give you one example after another of one preacher, minister, whatever you want to call them of one scandal after another? It is not limited to one congregation or religious sector. Hello Spartanburg SC. I came from Atlanta with my lover, and along with his brother, wife and 2 kids who live in Greenville went to support GAY PRIDE. It was a Great Crowd and as for wasting my breath on the bible thumpers, well its not going to happen. They are who they are “Ignorant.“ “Judge not lest you be judged”. This tiny planet spinning in its milky-way galaxy is hurling through space on a collision course with the Andromeda Galaxy. And life in every way shape and form will go on. Kudos to all those who stand up for LOVE, peace tolerance and spirituality which is what God whatever you conceive it to be, IS.
What a beautiful group of young and old alike Marching for a common Good. I invite The gay community in SC to come to PRIDE ATANTA this October Halloween weekend “oh what fun at Piedmont Park”. Evolution will go on….

the responce to this whole thing is shocking i agree with some and strongly disagree with others but it all comes down to one thing in the end all the people that think being gay is not a sin are the people that are going to suffer, think what you will beat the bible or not i really feel sorry for the gay people, maybe you need to go to church and talk to a preacher, and one more thing the city of spartanburg really surprises me issuing a permit for something like this maybe they need to get there priorities in line also.

Answer my question and stop with the MISINTERPRETATIONS. Out of the WHOLE Bible everyone of you keeps referring back to Leveticus 20:13. Is that ALL you have?? Now, you tell me, and tell your preacher any day , any time, any where, to argue against what I am going to say right now.
