Hey It’s Free!

These days, it seems like everything costs a fortune.  High prices for groceries, gas, and other expenses are making it hard for families to make ends meet.  What you may not know is that you can get many things for your family absolutely free!

We asked Jamarcus Gaston, a News Channel 7 writer, to log on to a website called Hey Its Free.  He found links to many companies offering free items.  The site lists a range of items from clothes to electronics to food.  After signing up for some items, he received free Nicorette gum, vitamins, granola, tea bags, potty training pants, a sippy cup, and beach balls, all mailed to him at no cost.

Jamarcus says being able to try out samples of the products for free can save you the cost of buying something you may not like.  Said Jamarcus, looking at samples of flavored tea he received, “You can buy a whole box of it and find out you don’t like it and it just sits in your cabinet for years and years.“

Jamarcus was able to download free computer games and received a coupon for a free bag of Iams dog food.  All he had to pay was the sales tax.

To order the products, you often have to sign up to receive email promotions, which means you’ll get spam.  So use a spare email address.

Other websites also offer free stuff, too.  Enter your zipcode on KidsMealDeals. It shows you which days local restaurants let kids eat free.  We found local Golden Corral restaurants lets kids under three eat free everyday.

You can download copies of books for free on http://www.gutenburg.org.  And you can watch free movies and TV shows on http://www.hulu.com

Tired of paying ATM fees for using an ATM other than your bank’s?  Money Pass shows free ATM’s in your area.  You can take beginner language courses in French, Spanish, German and Italian on http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages.  Or download free office software from http://www.openoffice.org.

So go online and save yourself some money.  You may find yourself saying, “Hey, its free!“
