COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be
in South Carolina for a conference on health care reform Thursday.
Gingrich founded the Center for Health Transformation after
leaving Congress. His group is holding an event Thursday in
Columbia titled “Creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System
in South Carolina.“
Gingrich, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, will give the
opening and closing remarks. He will also join Republican Gov. Mark
Sanford in an hour-long session on the future of health care in the
state.
In a separate session, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer will moderate a
discussion of health information technology. Other sessions include
discussion of national public health care. Gingrich has said
everyone should have health care, but not provided by the federal
government.
