Gray Court FD Starts Christmas Celebration Thursday
The Hickory Tavern Volunteer Fire Department will kick off it’s third annual Country Christmas Celebration Thursday night at 6:00pm.
The department - located at 73 Hickory Heights Drive in Gray Court - continues through Saturday.
This year’s festival is special because it will be dedicated in memory of one of the fire fighter’s, Carl “Buddy” Swanson. Buddy had been a
fire fighter with the Hickory Tavern Volunteer Fire Department since the department was founded 30 years ago.
He passed away in September after a short battle with cancer.
This evening’s events begin with the lighting of their 30-foot Christmas tree with over 4,000 lights. Along with the tree lighting, life size greeting cards will be unveiled which were created by local Elementary and High school students. The Hickory Tavern Middle School Band and Chorus will perform as part of the opening ceremony.
