Greenville County Councilman Drops $14K Claim Against Colleagues

Greenville County Councilman Tony Trout told us Wednesday that the complaints filed against fellow council members Bob Taylor and Fred Payne are dismissed.

Trout originally claimed that Payne and Taylor slammed a door on his face and arm resulting in pain, doctor’s bills and “public humiliation.” To cover this, he asked a magistrate to award him $7,000 from
Taylor and Payne, each, for a total of $14,000.

On Tuesday, Trout said he filed and was awarded a motion to dismiss the case on the basis that the Magistrate Court didn’t have jurisdiction in the case.

Trout published on his Web site that after “praying and thinking it through,” that he decided to drop the issue with the magistrate’s office.

Taylor called the charges “absurd.
