Greer Man Charged With Over $228,000 Insurance Fraud

Brian Trimby Lawrence is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $160,000 bond.
Brian Trimby Lawrence has been charged with defrauding two insurance companies of $228,581 for burglaries he claims happened to homes his company was building.
Lawrence, 55, said the homes were being constructed by his company, Colonial Homes, Incorporated. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says Lawrence reported six burglaries between February 25 and June 23 with a loss to his company of more than $322,000.
Investigators say Lawrence filed four claims with his insurance companies and settled two of them for a total of $228,581.85.
Arrest warrants say the false burglaries were reported on Father Hugo Drive in Greer and Lancashire Drive in Greenville County.
GSCO investigators say they determined the reported stolen materials were never purchased by Lawrence.
He is charged with six felony counts of filing a false police report, five counts of forgery in excess of $5,000, two counts of submitting a false claim for payment and three counts of making a false statement or misrepresentation.
Lawrence is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $160,000 bond.
