GREENVILLE, S.C., – More than 100 individually handcrafted purses are expected to be on display at the YWCA on Augusta Road on Thursday, July 10, for a sneak preview of what will be available at next month’s Handbags for Hope purse auction. The purse turn-in reception allows Handbags for Hope event organizers to meet the artists who donated their time and talents to design purses for the auction, and it also allows the artists to meet others who got involved.

“We’re really excited to see all the different designs and to meet the artists,” said event coordinator and SC Ovarian Cancer Foundation Executive Director, Janet Rigdon. “Last year, we didn’t have a single day for turning in purses, and as a result, many of the event coordinators were unable to meet the artists who gave so generously to our cause.”

In addition to handcrafted purses, there will be dozens of celebrity autographed purses on display from individuals like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Patrick Dempsey, the cast of Leatherheads, Andie McDowell, Carrie Underwood and many others.

The purse turn-in reception will be held at the YWCA on Augusta Road from 6pm – 8pm. Individuals who are donating handcrafted purses to the Handbags for Hope auction are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.

Handbags for Hope is a ticketed event held Thursday, August 21 at Saffron’s Wrought Iron Hall in downtown Greenville’s West End Market.
