Henry McMaster To Discuss Plans To Create Jobs As Candidate For Governor

    COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s attorney general is kicking off his run for governor by revealing his plan to create jobs in a state battered by high unemployment.
    Henry McMaster is laying out his economic development plan Tuesday morning at a small business in Columbia. The two-term attorney general announced his 2010 candidacy Monday in ads on TV and his campaign Web site.
    McMaster was long expected to run to replace term-limited Republican Gov. Mark Sanford.
    South Carolina’s unemployment rate went down in July to 11.8 percent. That was the first improvement since January 2008 and a slight decrease from June’s rate of 12.1 percent, an all-time high for the state and the nation’s fourth-highest at the time.
