Hurricane Dolly rolled ashore as a category two storm near South Padre Island,
Texas.

That means it had top sustained winds near 100 miles an hour as it hit land.

Thousands of people are riding out the storm in shelters on both sides of the
Texas-Mexico border.

In Washington today, FEMA officials detailed the emergency support they have
available for the Hurricane victims:

They have taken a host of commodities and capabilities from water to MRE’s to
tarps and blankets and generators to meet any gap that the state may have had.
They have no gaps and no specific requests for federal support.

Heavy rains and high winds from Hurricane Dolly have already knocked out power
to thousands of customers in the area.
