Interstate 85 Fatal Crash
Fatal Crash on Interstate 85A man is dead from a crash that closed Interstate 85 in Anderson County Saturday morning. Troopers said the wreck happened between mile markers 32 and 33 in the northbound lanes. The coroner told News Channel 7, 36-year-old-Eric Wayne Dozier of Pendleton lost control of a pickup truck, hit the median, overcorrected, and then went off the side of the roadway. The vehicle then caught fire. Troopers said the truck then hit a guardrail before going back onto Interstate 85.
That is where a FedEx 18-wheeler hit the truck. The second trailer of the 18-wheeler overturned and blocked the lanes.
The first crash on Interstate 85 caused a six car chain reaction accident a short distance away. The second crash happened at mile marker 32 in the northbound lane in Anderson County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person had to be taken to Greenville Hospital System with neck and back injuries.
Investigators have not said if charges will be filed in the second crash.
