Investigation After Woman is Assaulted in Greer

Greer police are searching for an attacker that has left a woman barely alive.

Investigators say a relative found the woman lying naked on her bedroom floor Wednesday.  According the incident report, there was blood on her bed and pillow cases.

Jim Holcombe with the Greer Police Department says there was not a sign of forced entry into the home.  He isn’t sure if it was a random attack or an attack by someone she knew.

Family members tell us their loved one is still unconscious at the hospital.

Neighbors say their concerned for the own family’s safety. “I’m kind of worried.  Whoever did it, I hope they catch him.  I just hope they catch him and nothing happens to my wife,“ Michael Durham said.

Investigators say the 49 year old victim could have been lying on her bedroom floor for more than 24 hours before her family found her.  They believe the attack happened sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
