Man Charged After Incident at Westgate Mall Monday Night

David Conway is charged with resisting arrest with injury to officer, assault and battery high and aggravated, shoplifting, 2 counts of assault and battery, and public disorderly conduct after an incident at Westgate Mall Monday night around closing time.
The police report says an owner of one of the businesses in the mall saw Conway take a purse from a sales display and conealled it under his arm. The report says the man yelled for Conway to stop and Conway dropped the purse.
When a security officer stopped the suspect the report says Conway became very aggressive. The report says another security officer was called for back up when Conway removed his shirt and approached both officers and a struggle began.
The report says Conway assaulted multiple mall security officers, Spartanburg Public Safety officers and a witness.
No bond given because he is on parole out of Pennsylvania. He had received permission from parole office there to temporarily work out of state on a construction site.
