Man Fights Off Intruder With Sword

Police say a man fought off an intruder with a sword.  26-year-old Michael Patrick Newton was at his mobile home on Gilliand Road in Pickens County Tuesday night.  Around 10:25 p.m., Newton says a white man dressed in camoflauge and a ski mask came to his door. Newton says the man pulled out a gun and demanded to come into the house. Newton told officers that he slammed the door on the man and went across the room and got a sword.  The suspect then kicked down the door and pointed the gun at him. Newton told the suspect that he had called 911, and the man left in a 90’s model Ford pickup truck. Newton had no injuries except for where he cut himself on the foot with the sword.
