A man charged for his involvement in a firework accident that cost a Piedmont teenager will have a preliminary hearing Friday morning.

Twenty-two year old Robert Spicer will appear in Anderson County court for a hearing. In July, Spicer was charged with manufacturing an incendiary device after he helped teenager, Ryan Stancell, tape a bundle of sparklers to Stancell’s hand. The sparklers exploded and Stancell’s right hand was severed.

Detectives say that Spicer made the bomb.
