Local Priest Asks Obama Supporters To Do Penance Before Communion

A Greenville County priest says his parishioners shouldn’t take Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because of the Democrat’s stance on abortion.

The Reverend Jay Scott Newman said Thursday church law doesn’t allow him to refuse parishioners the sacrament at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, but he said his congregates shouldn’t take Communion until they do penance for supporting “the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate or to run for president.“

In their annual meeting, the nation’s Roman Catholic bishops vowed Tuesday to forcefully confront the Obama administration over its support for abortion rights.

Some controversy has happened since this Priest requested his people to do a pentanence before taking mass, if they had voted for Obama. In the video, he mentions that the issue of abortion support was the ONLY issue that this “otherwise wonderful man” was wrong on.

He raises this issue so high that it could set his people “at opposition with the church” and this issue ONLY is this important. This is the ONLY issue that he does not support Obama on.

Does anyone else have unresolved issues with this open support while withholding only the issue of abortion?
