Program Offers Free Dental Care For Upstate Children

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the dental clinic on the college¹s Barton Campus on Pleasantburg Drive.
The American Dental Association, Sullivan-Schein, Inc., Dexis and Colgate are national sponsors, with Sullivan-Schein providing service and supplies at the local level. These sponsors join state and local dental societies from across the country to deliver free services to children who would not otherwise receive dental care.
The short-term goal of the event is to provide immediate dental care; however, the long-range mission is to educate children and their parents about preventive care that could eliminate many dental problems.
Approximately 50 local dentists, hygienists and assistants have volunteered their time and expertise to ensure the effectiveness of the event.
Exams, x-rays, cleanings and sealants may be provided free of charge at screening appointments throughout the month of January.  Screening appointments are available on January 13, 15, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, and 31.
Please call (864) 250-8126 for a day or evening appointment. Children with additional needs will be given an appointment for February 6, 2009.
