Two men flying to a business trip crash in the North Carolina Mountains but are able to survive thanks in part to the quick action of firefighters.

Fairview Firefighters say James Monroe and James Hastings were trying to make an emergency landing in a corn field when they clipped a branch, causing the plane to nosedive and land on its roof.

Fearing the worst, firefighters found the men alive, but trapped.  It took about 25 minutes to free the two men.  Firefighters say they had cuts to their heads and injuries to the lower part of their bodies.

James Monroe remains in fair condition while Hastings’s condition is not being released.
