“They say you can’t make a difference, well you can’t unless you vote,“ said restaurant employee Lisa Branham.

That’s why Branham made her voice heard on Election Day in the race for the mayor of Due West.

“I believe in my rights,“ said Branham. “Too many of them are being taken away right now.“

Right now the race unofficially is a tie. Abbeville County election officials tell us the votes for Lee Logan and Harry Stille are in a dead heat, each with 121 votes.

“It shows we have a lot of interesting people that are really looking at the future of what they want to have in their town,“ said business owner Charles Forrest.

It all comes down to just four votes. Election Director Lynne West says the eligibility of those voters is still being questioned. On Thursday, the election commission will convene to determine a winner or plan for a run-off election.

Voter Sara Mae McFerrin says she’s glad to see the first tie in her 44 years of voting in Due West.

“May the best man win,“ McFerrin said.
