- Spartanburg Sheriff’s Office identifies suspect in dozens of burglaries in Roebuck
- Donald Hamilton Hill, Junior arrested and charged with burglary 1st degree and assault and battery with intent to kill.
- Tip to identify Hill came from Greenville County Sheriff’s Office

**Thursday morning update**

Hill has now been charged by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office with more crimes: two counts of petit larceny, nine counts of burglary 2nd degree and seven counts of grand larceny.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has identified and arrested the man they believe in dozens of burglaries in Roebuck.

Donald Hamilton Hill, Junior, 46, was arrested near the Spartanburg County border with Laurens county following a tip from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with burglary 1st degree and assault and battery with intent to kill.

Greenville deputies recognized Hill from a composite sketch released following an attempted burglary on May 11 at a home in Roebuck. That suspected robber reportedly left the scene driving a Nissan Pathfinder.

Hill was arrested in Greenville County on May 2 while driving that type of vehicle.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s investigators say Hill admitted to committing burglaries in the Bordeaux, Timm Creek, and Dorman Meadows neighborhoods.

Hill is facing charges now from a home invasion on Spirit Drive on Monday. The homeowner says he fought with Hill until the suspect ran out of the house.

More charges are expected to be brought against Hill.

Hey selfish you,

I spent 23 years in the military, retiring 5 years ago after serving in 5 different combat zones, which means I fought for the freedom that Don “the dumba$$“ Hill does not want. And many brother /sister Marines are still fighting for it.Everyday, I thank God for letting me survive, and pray that another does not die in vain so that crack smoking idiots can just break into a house and steal everything available for that next rock, maybe even killing for it. I even spent time in parts of the world trying to keep that junk from getting here in this country…and sometimes I feel like I wasted my time and efforts, but you’re right, I am no superman.

Every home owner has the right to protect their family and homes from crack smoking burglars armed with screwdrivers that can be and is sometimes used as a weapon…

You, my friend, do not have to agree with my opinion. You go to church on Sunday, get on your knees, and thank the Lord that Mr Manigan didn’t fill a grave with your relative, then go visit his dumba$$ in jail and tell him the same thing….he might see a light somewhere..better yet, do you need a Bible to give him so he has something to read? It’s very obvious to me that when they took prayer out of schools, the Devil just walked right on in and took a seat right between you and Don Hill, and got real friendly with both of you!

“superdave” I bet you are not nearly as super as you think.  I’m sure you spend every Sunday in church and you should thank your God that you’ve never been addicted.  God will judge you too one day and I’m sure there is plenty to find lacking.  It’s interesting to me that someone is vilified more for stealing a man’s TV than many rapists and murders I have seen.  I DO NOT condone in any way these actions but have enough compassion to think people do not deserve to die over televisions.

It’s funny how a working man, like myself can carry a hammer, screwdriver, pliers, and work gloves in his car and they are called tools…

MR Don “Dumba$$“ Hill, had the same things and they are called “burglary tools” because that’s what he was using them for…

I wonder how much of his family’s property he has stolen and pawned over the years to support his crack habit? Obviously, he’s already sold all their stuff and had to branch out into 2 other counties.

I have NO COMPASSION for a thief, especially the ones that are stupid enough to break in while some one is home…Had it been my house, you’d be having a wake right about now, so consider your relative lucky!

I have NEVER snorted or smoked cocaine or any other illegal drugs. I have NEVER been arrested for having burglary tools, broken into a house to steal to support a habit, or gotten my a$$ whooped by a homeowner because I tore a screen off and broke in…THIEF HILL still picked the wrong house!

I have always WORKED one, sometimes 2 jobs, to support my family and have the good things in life…

He obviously DOES NOT give a rip about his family or he wouldn’t be doing things to go to jail or get killed for..He’d rather smoke crack than be home with his children, he’d rather sit in jail than play outside with them or take them to the park, and he’d rather risk dying instead of living and having dinner with his family and you want to say I HAVE THE PROBLEM?WHERE WAS HIS COMPASSION FOR HIS FAMILY?

But you are right, I HAVE MORE COMPASSION FOR THE ANIMALS AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY THAN I DO A THIEVING, CRACK SMOKING IDIOT WHO THREW AWAY HIS FAMILY, HIS LIFE AND HIS FREEDOM!!!

You all need to think about that..

I just abhor self righeous people who think bad things can never happen to them.  As to the May 2 arrest, this was NOT May 2 of this year which the article failed to point out.  He was in rehab for several months and though he had it beaten.  NO ONE in his family is trying to excuse his actions nor say he shouldn’t be punished - he will be.  I would hate to live my life with zero compassion for others and pray that you NEVER experience what this man’s family has experienced.  NO ONE but him is responsible for his actions.  BTW - it was a charge for burglary tools and their was no conviction.  You as much as this “thug” are a despicable person.

DRUG ADDICTION OR NOT, A MAN CAN GET KILLED THESE DAYS FOR BREAKING INTO A HOUSE WITH A GUN-OWNING HOME OWNER..

AN ADDICTION IS NO EXCUSE….A .45 CAL SLUG HAS A WAY OF CURING THAT COCAINE FUELED CRIME SPREE…

HE WAS ALREADY OUT OF JAIL FOR A MAY 2 BURGLARY, WHICH ONE OF YOU LOVING FAMILY MEMBERS PAID HIS BAIL AND GAVE HIM GAS MONEY TO GO TO SPARTANBURG? THAT’S CALLED “ENABLING AN ADDICTION”

I THINK IT’S FUNNY THAT HE GOT A WHOOPIN’ BUT CRIMINALS NOW DAYS HAVE TO REALIZE THAT AS CRIME RATES GO UP, SO DOES GUN SALES, AND THERE ARE ALOT OF CITIZENS WHO BELIEVE IN THE “RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS”....AT LEAST IN JAIL, HE’LL BE CLEAN FOR AWHILE, UNLESS OF COURSE, HE STEALS FROM ANOTHER INMATE, AND THAT’S DANGEROUS IN JAIL TOO….

IT’S SO FUNNY HOW YOU NEVER HEAR ABOUT WHAT A LOVING GOOD PERSON PEOPLE ARE UNTIL YOU SEE THEM GETTING HAULED IN IN SHACKLES AND HANDCUFFS, THEN FAMILY IS SO PROUD AND QUICK TO DEFEND….

I DON’T CARE EVEN IF THE DEVIL HIM SELF MADE HIM DO IT. THEIR IS NO EXCUSE FOR HIS ACTIONS. HE NEEDS TO DO THE TIME FOR HIS CRIMES. IF NOT DRUGS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SOME THING ELSE. HE NEEDS TO BE TRIED ON EACH CASE SEPERATE. THROW THE BOOK AT THIS THUG AND MABE SOME ONE ELSE WILL TAKE NOTICE AND CHANGE THEIR WAY. I FOUGHT ADICTOIN AND WON.IF SOME ONE WITH MY WILL POWER CAN DO IT ANYONE CAN, IF THEY WAN’T TO.

Everyone needs residential video surveillance. When a serial burglar hits like this one did, it is not pure luck he wasn’t caught. He is good at what he did. When people like this commit residential burglaries they take the time to look around.  I can assure you if he saw a camera on the eve of your home pointed at the driveway, he would move on. Surveillance systems are cheap and easy to install. Checkout Wilife by Logitech. Or any other system, Wal-Mart sells them. No excuse!
