The S.C. Republican Party has asked Gov. Mark Sanford to resign. After a meeting late Thursday afternoon, state GOP chairwoman Karen Floyd released a statement saying the party’s executive committee voted to ask Sanford to step down. Party leaders say all of the publicity over Sanford’s affair and subsequent investigations have become a distraction. The party’s executive committee voted to censure Sanford a couple of months ago.
Earlier Thursday afternoon, Sanford and his attorney Butch Bowers blasted the Ethics Commission and its plans to release a preliminary report prior to Sanford’s defense in front of the full panel. Bowers told members of the media during an afternoon press conference that such an early release of the report would violate state law. Sanford said lawmakers could use the report to justify impeachment of the governor.
Thursday evening, Tom Crabtree interviewed GOP Party Chairperson Karen Floyd about the party’s actions and where the state Republican Party goes from here. Listen to that interview by clicking the Video link.

Impeach him or shut up. By the time everyone gets through talking his time as governor will be over.
I like what someone said on another post. We’re giving this jerk too much air time.
South Carolina Continues to be embrassed by their representives. 1st dumba$$ Joe wilson and more by A$$ Clown Sanford. Time 2 move to the North and by that i mean Canada. GOODBYE S.C
everybody needs to let this issue die & go away. let the man go on with his life. he messed up but confessed so he can get on with his life & his job. hey, nobody seems to care about his wife who keeps having to hear about his affair day after day. she’s the one who is paying the biggest price of all. she & her children got hurt more than anyone else. the worst part is that they didn’t do anything wrong but their having to pay the price for as long as this topic continues to stay in the news everyday. LEAVE THE FAMILY ALONE!!
ummm, Felix… We are on the same side here. You dont agree with me on the Osama story. Remember?
Do you HAVE a job to give him matt584? If you DO by all means give him a call. Then YOU can wonder where he is the next time he walks off his job for several days visiting his mistress.
Felix, I would give him a job. He is a very smart man with a decent past. However, he made a mistake. That mistake is costing me money, and S.C. time and effort.
Momieghijk_ Signed a Republican who wont vote for him again
I disagree wholeheartedly with Sandford’s actions and I certainly do not condone spending taxpayer dollars for personal benefit. But I wonder how much taxpayer money and resources are being spent on all these investigations and calls for resignation. I’m willing to bet it’s significantly more than a plane trip. Simply, just don’t vote for him again. We need to move on!
Signed a democrat who won’t vote for him again.
Issachar5, would YOU give Sanford a job? I wouldn’t.
Pure political Hogwash. It is said Sanford should retire because of the distraction. The only distractio9n I see is from the rabble rousers.
It would be great if politicians would do what they were elected for rather than looking for ways to trash opponents. Sanford was wrong and stood up to his error like a man. That is more than I can say for other wimps throwing the stones.
