EDGEFIELD, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina federal prison is on
lockdown and four inmates have been sent to a hospital for
treatment after a fight in the recreation yard.
Bureau of Prisons officials say an inmate fight broke out
Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. at a federal prison in Edgefield, near
the South Carolina-Georgia state line. Officials say the fight was
contained quickly, and no staff members were injured.
Four inmates were sent to a hospital for treatment, and several
others were treated at the prison.
Officials say the medium security facility about 25 miles north
of Augusta, Ga., houses more than 1,700 male offenders. An adjacent
satellite camp is home to about 440 minimum security male
offenders.
A spokesman for the prison did not immediately return a message
seeking comment.

We treat our prisoners too good! We let them watch TV, drugs are running rampant in our prison system, and we let them have weights to work out with so we can keep them in good shape to become a habitual offender when they are released. BRING BACK THE CHAIN GANG CAMPS AND ATTACH A BALL AND CHAIN AROUND THEIR ANKLES WITH SOME NICE STRIPED CLOTHING!  I believe they will be less apt to want to return to prison. Let our prisons create some good hard labor and let the taxpayer get more bang for his buck while we house, clothe, and feed them. Just maybe, we can get our roads in better condition with some good, cheap, hard labor!
