Michael and Terry Valentine’s call led authorities to serial Killer Patrick Burris

CrimeStoppers has decided to give a $30,000 reward to Michael and Terry Valentine for their call that authorities say led finding Patrick Burris.

The Cherokee County Sheriff and the State Law enforcement Division say Burris was the man who killed five people.

Michael and Terry Valentine called police early Monday morning after Burris and two others showed up drunk at the abandoned home in Dallas, NC. The police call came out as a burglary in progress. When police arrived, a shootout began, with one officer being injured and Burris dead.

Blanton says because the Valentines called 911 reporting a burglary, but not the fact the suspect was in the house, they may not be able to receive the full reward amount. Michael Valentine told News Channel 7 Monday that he recognized the Ford Explorer that pulled up at the home from media reports.

The Valentines say they got the call from sheriff at 11 Friday morning. They say they are very surprised and overwhelmed.
They plan to pay off their car and have a memorial built for the victims in Gaffney.

Why would Crime Stoppers even hesitate to give the reward to the Valentines? It seems so typical of everything anymore.

THE VALENTINES should definately receive ALL the reward money. If it were not for the Valentines being observant and calling 911, we may still be afraid to live our normal lives.

We were all praying and asking the Lord to not let this killer , kill again.
I feel the Lord used your precious lil Chihuahua to wake you WONDERFUL PEOPLE up to answer our prayers.

I think they should get $34,000.00, as stated.  Not sure what happened to the other $4,500.00 . If it were miscounted, no wonder our economy is so bad.
Whoever counted it and made the mistake, sounds like you would have a nice seat in Washington with other politicians.

Give the Valentine’s the $34,000.00 as stated the reward was, even if the board members have to make up the difference.

To the Valentine’s, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ! WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL TO YOU!
ENJOY THE MONEY AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!

Be sure and buy that precious Chihuahua alot ot treats and toys.
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

I can not believe anyone would say just give those wonderful people that made that 911 call that night, the original $2500. I feel sure that they don’t live anywhere near his mans killing spee, they couldn’t have known the fear the people around here felt. To the commitee that will be deciding today, everyone will be watching your decision.Personally I couldn’t care less what their reasons were, they saved who knows how many lives. Give them every penny. Because the next time, you plead for help, people just might remember, your decision.

The Valentines should get the entire reward. If they had not been responsible citizens and called the police, our serial killer could still be in business.

This shouldn’t even be a question. They would have spent more continuing to search for him had he not have been stopped.

I don’t recall any conditions to the reward.

Others may not call in future tips if they feel that they’re not worthy. Pay ‘em

The couple who made the call couldn’t have known it was the killer. They did what was right and called in what they saw. I think they deserve all the money because alot of people wouldn’t have called. If they had not done it, I beleive there would still be killing. I pray God will bless them , and all the people who worked on this.

i def they they should get the reward money what they do with it is there right. if they chose to donate some to church or to the fams then that is there biz think.. if they had not of called for whatever reason not only would we have 2 more dead bodys this crime spree could go on and on for who knows how much longer so reguardless if they raised the amount they raised it. i know for a fact someone donated 10,000 of his own money to catch the guy. thats what he wanted was him caught this is money well spent and everyone that donated money did so for the capture of burris so for however much the amount is 20,000 30,000 its money gone to the right cause and if it was you that was the one that got him called on him or whatnot you would want it as well. yes its alot of money but money that was deserved. its up to them what they do with it.

It’s simple. Give the folks the reward money as promised. As a matter of fact, I think it would be a great way to reduce the cost of law enforcement. Put wanted posters on every telephone pole in town with a hefty reward noted just below the picture of these worthless scumbags. Let the locals root them out and haul their no good a$$ into town strapped to the hood of a pick up truck. Dump their bruised and battered a$$es on the courthouse steps and collect the reward money, end of story. Yippie Eyy Ohh, Yippie Eyy Eaaaaaaaaaaaa .
