Hours after a church burglary suspect got out of jail, investigators said he pulled a gun on two women. On Saturday, Spartanburg Public Safety arrested 55-year-old Ricky Turley at Southside Baptist Church. The church had so much damage, children had to be turned away from a trick-or-treating event.
On Monday morning he posted his bond and was put on electronic monitoring. But eight hours later investigators told News Channel 7’s coverage partners at the ‘Herald Journal’ he tried to rob two women in a car at gunpoint on South Converse Street.
On Tuesday Turley was back at the Spartanburg County Detention center on new charges. Police told the paper, Turley’s criminal record dates back to 1973. He was supposed to only leave the home for approved activities.

Yea Pammy… I have always been for the reform of Cannabis Laws. I never gave making everything legal the time of day. But that article really made some really good points.
I am with you matt! I would much rather see the bed in jail go to the dude who breaks into churches and holds-up people at gun point, over the dude with some pot on him. ;0)
Well… lets see if I can crack the lid on a can-o-worms.
I read an article a few days ago on the legalization of drugs. This story is the perfect example.
1. People are going to use dope regardless of the Law, Financial Ability, or anything else. 2. The “drug war” has been a waste of billions of dollars. Proven when you can go to any street corner and get what you want.
A junkie goes out and steals money to get dope… Cop busts him and takes his dope. Junkie gets out of jail and guess what…. He has to start the cycle again. House after house, person after person victims of crime.
You will not stop junkies or dope. PERIOD. So how do you stop the cycle? Legalize? MABEY. It has been done with sucess in a few Countries. Crime rates dropped by 30%. What really suprised me is the drug usage also went down! Mabey it is the “forbidden fruit” thing. I dunno.
There is no room left in Jail. Why do you think they keep letting these criminals go free? What sense does it make to let some guy who breaks into a Church go free, just so someone who had some dope in their pocket can have his bed.
The system we have is not working. Time to open our eyes to some alternatives.
Bottom Line… If Heroin was Legalized tomorrow, Would you start shooting up?!

Does anyone stay in jail these days?! Every time I serve on jury duty, it’s always probation, probation, and more probation. Bring back the chain gang! Lock these people up and make them serve “hard” labor. I’m not talking about picking up paper on the side of the road. Churches and clubs volunteer for that job. We should also stop taking up to ten years to carry out a death sentence. That would solve some of the overcrowding problems in jails.
Wonder how long he will be there before some !#^&*!# judge will let him out on bail again.
