A Spartanburg man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, according to our coverage partners at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal.

Xavier Lamar Byrd, 19, of Spartanburg was sentenced to 25 years in prison Wednesday for the shooting death of 29-year old Terrence Lamont Wofford, who was in a cast and on crutches at the time of the shooting. Authorities say that Wofford was shot in the head on Williams Street, near Textile Road on May 23, 2008.

The shooting followed a disagreement that originated at a nearby sports bar on Textile Road. Byrd was originally charged with murder.
