McCOMB, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say three people have been killed and another person critically injured after the car they were riding in collided with a passenger train in southern Mississippi.

No one on the Amtrak train was injured in the crash Monday afternoon in McComb.

Authorities identified the dead as a 2-year-old, a 12-year-old boy and a 17-year-old woman. A 17-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Deputy Police Chief Scott McKenzie says it appears the car didn’t stop at the railroad crossing. Witnesses told investigators they heard the train’s horn as it approached. The railroad crossing had no arms or lights.

An Amtrak spokeswoman said the train was headed to Chicago from New Orleans.
